Moussa: Egypt puts relations with China on top of foreign policy priorities
Egypt-China, Economics, 2/8/2000
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa stated that Egypt puts boosting its economic relations with China on top of the priorities of its commercial and economic relations with the world's different countries.
In his address at a symposium on Egyptian - Chinese relations in the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry yesterday, he said that his country is concerned with increasing and developing fields of cooperation with China, especially in light of China's rapidly-growing international position, as well as increasing its political weight.
He added in this symposium in which numerous representatives of ministers, governmental sectors, and businessmen concerned with the cooperation with China participated with the attendance of Samir Seif El-Yazel, the Egyptian first under secretary of the Foreign Ministry, and Nagi El-Ghatrifi, the Egyptian assistant foreign minister for Asian affairs, that the commercial trade between Egypt and China is moving forward currently, as it reached nearly $750 million in 1999.
