Morocco, Economics, 2/8/2000
Moroccan fisheries minister, Thami Khyari, presented Monday to King Mohammed VI a project to set up six more fisher villagers in southern Morocco.
The project consists of infrastructure and organization facilities meant to end up with small towns for around 300,000 inhabitants in Laayoune and Dakhla. The project is estimated to cost $ 16 million (160 million DH) outside ports and housing. Ports works alone are valued at $ 45.1 million.
The project seeks to improve the quality of traditional fishing products, improve living and work conditions of professionals, prepare the basis for transparent commercial dealing and improve the collecting of statistics.
