UN negotiates with Sudan to release kidnapped plane

The UN on Monday announced that its has been negotiating with the Sudanese government in order to release a UN plane held together with its four-member team by a pro-Sudanese government militia in southern Sudan.

The spokeswoman for Operation Lifeline Sudan, a UN relief agency that has Sudan as a headquarters, Gillian Wilcox, said that the plane is still being held and that both the UN and the Sudanese government are negotiating for its release.

This plane, which was boarding one American working for the UN, two pilots from Kenya and a Sudanese relief workers was seized on Thursday by militias in the higher Nile district in western Sudan.
