Iraqi president sends message to King Mohammed
Morocco-Iraq, Politics, 2/7/2000
Iraqi foreign minister, Mohamed Said Assahaf, arrived in Rabat on Sunday to deliver a message from Iraqi president Saddam Hussein to King Mohammed VI.
At the airport, he was received by minister of Maghreban, Islamic and Arab countries, Abdeslam Znined.
In a recent press conference here, Iraqi ambassador to Morocco, Abdeljebbar Omar Ghani Addouri, expressed his country's reserves on resolution 1284 adopted by the United Nations last December. The resolution provides for a phased lifting of the embargo, each 120 days, provided that Baghdad cooperates with the new disarmament organization.
The Iraqi diplomat said the resolution bears nothing positive for Iraq but is rather binding it with new hurdles.
