Ministerial committee for refugees discusses yesterday right of return of 700,000 Palestinians
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 2/7/2000

Meetings of the Palestinian refugee committee which met in the headquarters of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry under the chairmanship of Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and in the attendance of Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul al-Illah al-Khatib, Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nabil Shaath and Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy.

During the meeting, they discussed the definitions raised by the four countries of the concept of refugees, the lists made by the countries hosting the Palestinians, as well the average increase in names of these lists' families in the year 1967 till now.

The core of the dispute between the Arab and Israeli points of view in the works of this committee is in the number. Israel refuses to acknowledge an increase, as the Arab side believes that they are an estimated 700,000 refugees, yet Israel insists that they are only 270,000 refugees.
