Ali Douba retired

Chairman of the Syrian military intelligence Lt. Gen. Ali Douba has retired because he reached the age of retirement and his deputy, Lt. Gen. Hassan Khalil was assigned the task of this post.
Well-informed sources in Damascus said that Lt. Gen. Douba who is in the mid of the 60s was retired by law. Since 1974, Douba succeeded Lt. Gen. Hikmat al-Shehabi to this post.
The sources said that Syrian President Hafez al-Assad assigned private "missions" to Lt. Gen. Douba.
Lt. Gen. Khalil is a member of the two arrangement committees relating to borders and security established in the course of the Syrian- Israeli negotiations, the Lebanese daily al-Safir reported on Monday.
