Kuwaiti- Egyptian committee meets February 21
Egypt-Kuwait, Politics, 2/7/2000
The Kuwaiti-Egyptian joint committee started its meetings in Cairo on February 21 under the chairmanship of the two countries' foreign ministers.
However, the visit of the Kuwaiti deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad, is considered the first since the incidents of the Egyptian workers in Kuwait, better known as al-Khaietan incidents.
An Egyptian source said that the issue of the Egyptian labor force in Kuwait and its conditions will be on top of topics to be discussed in the Cairo meetings between Moussa and Sheikh al-Ahmad.
The Egyptian source continued that it was decided to agree to laying certain measures that will guarantee the rights of the Egyptian workers and ensure the need of organizing the labor force and its flow in a way that complies with the need of the Kuwaiti markets for various crafts and specializations and an agreement to deport laborers who are not licensed to work in Kuwait.
