Minister of Information Safwat El-Sherif will arrive in Paris, France, on February 15 on a five-day visit to inspect the Egyptian Satellite in Toulouse after it has been assembled and made ready for launch in July.
"The year 2000 will witness a significant leap by Egypt's media into new horizons and the birth of momentous achievements, crowning a 20-year course of planning, research and serious work," he added.
"The year 2000 will also witness the establishment of the first duty-free zone for media production and the first transmission of private satellite channels from the land of Egypt," he said.
"The second satellite, NileSat 102, which will open further future technological horizons for Egypt, will also be launched in 2000," he added.
The international Mubarak Studio Complex, which is a valuable addition to the Media Production City and Egypt's media infrastructure, will be opened in 2000," he said.
