Italian PM to visit Syria and Jordan

Italian prime minister, Massimo Dalema, will visit Jordan and Syria as of February 21 to meet with top ranking officials, Italian government announced on Friday.
An official said Dalema will meet with king Abdullah II of Jordan and Syrian president Hafidh Al-Assad.
This tour is as part of a bid to reactivate relations between Italy and the two countries, the statement said.
The Italian president had visited Libya, Israel and Palestine in November 1999.
Dalema will review with the two arab heads of state developments in the Peace Process and diplomatic efforts to activate Israel's negotiations with Palestine and Syria.
Italian president Carlo Azilio Ciampi is scheduled to visit Egypt in mid February.
