Mubarak to open first conference for the COMESA assembly in Cairo

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will open the first conference for the COMESA assembly that will begin in Cairo on February 28 and last for two days.
The conference will discuss three main issues, topped by increasing the private sector's role in supporting commercial exchange among the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) group, especially as the trade volume among the group countries has not exceeded $2.5 billion U.S and $60 million in foreign trade.
Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi will participate in opening the conference as his country heads the organization currently till end of 2001, after which President Mubarak will receive the presidency for two years.
