Exhibition of Moroccan carpets at Madrid Contemporary Art Museum

Moroccan carpets and other hand-woven items are currently displayed at the Reine Sofia center of contemporary art in Madrid.
The items on display-- carpets, blankets, djellabas, capes and other garments-- describe the evolution through ages of Moroccan woven work, the creativity of Moroccan woman, the weaving techniques, and the specificities of each Moroccan region. Some of the items were borrowed from museums in Barcelona and Paris as well as from private collections.
With its variety of colors and material, Moroccan textile art has inspired scores of Western artists.
The exhibition was dedicated Tuesday evening in the presence of Moroccan Minister of Cultural Affairs Mohamed Achaari.
