Morocco renews its position on Sahara issue at French Parliament session
Morocco-France, Politics, 2/3/2000

"Moroccan position regarding the Sahara issue has not changed," Moroccan Justice Minister Omar Azziman told the French Parliament's foreign commission.

He stated that Morocco has always asked and required that all Sahrawis, including those who were forced to leave the territory for some historical reason, be allowed to vote in the referendum. He stressed that these populations who were forced to flee the Spanish colonization are legitimately entitled to participate in a voting that will determine the future of the territory.

The minister further indicated, in answer to a question on human rights abuse, that the judiciary process has been working normally with independent courts, legal trials and the guarantee of the defendants' right to defense.
