Ugandan president criticizes Sudan
Sudan-Uganda, Politics, 2/3/2000

Less than two months after signing an agreement aimed at ending the border conflict between Uganda and Sudan, the Ugandan president criticized Sudan for not bringing back the children kidnapped from Uganda.

According to this agreement, Sudan must end its support for a group calling itself the Lord's Resistance Army, which commits brutal attacks and used to attack Uganda's northern areas.

21 children were brought back to Uganda, yet this number is less than the estimated 2,000 childern hoped to still be alive in the hands of the Lord's Resistance Army.

For Uganda there are no schoolgirls among the returnees who were kidnapped in a raid in October, 1996.
