Women demonstrate in Kuwait to demand their political rights
Kuwait, Politics, 2/2/2000
A group of Kuwaiti women organized yesterday a large march in front of the cultural association to demand women's political rights on the first day of opening registration for the electoral lists.
The march included women from different categories and ages to register their names in the different voting lists.
Some Kuwaiti police departments allowed registration of the women's names in 10 governorates yet in separate lists, while many others strongly refused to register any name, as this contradicts the electoral law which does not allow women to vote.
