Moroccan-Spanish relations probed at conference in Madrid
Morocco-Spain, Politics, 2/2/2000
Economic and human relations between Morocco and Spain will be probed in a conference in Madrid this February 9-11 with the participation of experts and officials of the two countries.
Organizers said the conference is a contribution to efforts to consolidate the new stage of cooperation and complementarity between the two countries both in economic and human fields.
It will deal with several topics including economic, trade and financial ties, cooperation between enterprises, agriculture and fisheries, relations between the European Union and Morocco, education, health, the role of women in development and migration issues.
In Rabat, the Hassan II foundation for Moroccans living abroad will hold a two-day conference (Feb.4-5) on social and cultural prejudices between Morocco and Spain.
Participants will debate how Spaniards and Moroccans have prejudices toward each other as a result of diverging views on immigration, conflicting economic interests, different interpretations of history and the role of education and the media.
