El Bashir: Egyptian - Libyan initiative is for Sudan's good
Sudan, Politics, 2/1/2000

Sudanese President Omar El Bashir said during three-day his visit to Oman in press declarations to Egypt's al-Ahram newspaper that were published today that the Egyptian - Libyan initiative is comprehensive and can achieve Sudan's interests and establish a comprehensive peace in the country, as opposed to the IGAD initiative which deals with the south's problem, adding that the USA does not want a Libyan - Egyptian solution in Sudan.

Concerning the situation in Sudan, El Bashir asserted that the internal situation is unstable due to the duplicity in taking the decisions and the conflict among the ruling powers, which created a sort of confusion.

The Sudanese president said there is no retreat concerning dissolving the national council (parliament) or concerning delaying some articles of the constitution.
