Arab Knesset member does not expect any progress on the Palestinian track
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 2/1/2000
Abdulmalik Dehamshe, chairman of the United Arab List in the Israeli Knesset, expressed his belief that the Palestinian and Israeli sides will not be able to reach an agreement in the final status talks before a February 13 deadline, as the Palestinians will not accept an alternative to an Arab Jerusalem.
Dehamshe added that there is Israeli agreement that the Palestinians will not accept an alternative to an Arab Jerusalem, adding that the last statements by the Israeli deputy defense minister concerning Jerusalem are a trial balloon for the Palestinian side and that the negotiations aim at reaching a settlement and a compromise between the two sides.
