Moroccan opposition group demands release of its detained chief
Morocco, Politics, 2/1/2000
Al-Adl Wal Ihsane prohibited group in Morocco demanded yesterday the release of Sheikh Abd El-Salam Yassin, chief of the group, who has been under the house arrest for 10 years.
Nadia Yassin, spokeswoman of the group and daughter of the detained sheikh, called for releasing her father without conditions, saying that the release decision would prove the political change which King Mohammed VI of Morocco called for.
Nadia added that Sheikh Yassin refused to present any concessions in return for setting him free, saying that the government sent envoys to Sheikh Yassin to persuade him to present concessions, but he refused.
