AAPSO committee wraps up meeting in Damascus

The coordination and follow-up committee of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization on Monday concluded its coordination meeting, stressing the importance of preserving Arab identity and national interests.

Solidarity committees from Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and the general secretariat of the Afro-Asian organization confirmed the importance of reactivating the organization's role through concentrating on achieving Arab solidarity in service of the Arab nation's just causes.

The meeting stressed the importance of backing the Arab negotiators in liberating the occupied lands, achieving a just and comprehensive peace and attaining social development in the region.

The AAPSO committee called for stopping normalization with Israel before the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab lands and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Syrian Minister of Information Muhammad Salman met on Monday evening with an AAPSO delegation led by Murad Ghaleb.

Discussions dealt with the importance of activating the role played by AAPSO in achieving Arab solidarity and mobilizing Arab potentials and public opinion in order to counter dangers and challenges threatening the Arab states' causes of destiny.

Ghaleb commended Syria's unwavering stand, advocated by President al-Assad, confirming AAPSO's backing for Syria's rights to restore its legitimate rights and to establish a just and comprehensive peace that provides for Israel's withdrawal to the June 4, 1967 borders.
