Al-Bashir concludes three-day visit to Muscat
Oman-Sudan, Politics, 2/1/2000

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Monday concluded a three-day official visit to Oman, stressing that he will not give up his recent decisions.

In press statements he made before leaving Muscat, al-Bashir said that period ended the "rule of two heads" (himself and Parliament Speaker Hassan Turabi, leader of the ruling National Congress party) and there can be no return to duplication, adding, "We will ensure guarantees to the opposition."

During his meeting with the Sudanese community in Oman, al-Bashir underlined the importance of Sudan's unity and the economic projects which will qualify the country to enter an era of vast development.

Concerning Sudan's relations with the US, the Sudanese president said, "America did not apologize for its bombardment of the al-Shifaa factory, but it had released assets allotted for rebuilding this factory, which is an evidence of its miscalculation."
