Yemen concerned over the fate of US citizen

The Yemeni authorities on Monday expressed its concern over the fate of a kidnapped American whose location is unknown, as is the identity of his kidnappers.

A Yemeni official told the AFP, "We are anxious, and we do not precisely know where he is," adding that the security forces have not succeeded in defining the identity of the kidnappers of Kenneth White who works at the US Halliburton oil company on the night of January 25.

Earlier, Yemeni sources indicated that members of al-Hareth tribe are holding White in a mountainous area to the east of Maareb.

The process of kidnapping this American is the second in Yemen since the beginning of this year. On January 17 two French couples who were on their honeymoon were kidnapped. But a Yemeni security force had succeeded in releasing them just two days later.
