Acts of violence in Somalia
Somalia, Politics, 2/1/2000

Some 15 persons were killed when a relief caravan carrying foodstuffs was attacked twice while it was in its way to the Bakoul region of southern Somalia during the past two days.

The spokeswoman for the US CARE International relief agency, Wendy Driscoll, said in a statement on Monday in Mogadishu that a caravan rented by the agency for distributing urgent food supplies in Tieglo in Bakool was exposed to an ambush carried out by unidentified persons on Saturday on the road from the capital, Mogadishu, and the ambush resulted in killing four of the attackers and one relief worker.

Driscoll said another 10 Somalis were killed on Sunday after the same caravan changed the course of its route. However hard luck was waiting this caravan as it struck an anti-tank mine.
