PanAfrican music festival postponed to year 2001

The third Pan African music festival, initially scheduled for 2000 might be held in Brazzaville in August 2001, the festival management committee said.
The committee chairperson, Mambou Aime Chali, who is
Congo's minister of culture and arts said the postponement was due to financial difficulties.
The Festival was initiated by the Organiztion of African Unity (OAU) to promote African music and encourage African musicians. It also aims at fostering south-south integration, promoting peace and consolidating ties between African youth.
The two previous festivals were held in Brazzaville in 1996 and 1999.
