Arab League follows up on implementating UN Security Council resolution 1284

The Arab League received a report from the head of its mission in the UN, Hussein Hassouna, concerning the current developments in the Security Council concerning Iraq and the Security Council's resolutions.

Ahmed Bin Hali, the assistant secretary general of the Arab League, said the AL follows up on the current developments that accompanied Security Council resolution 1284.

Bin Hali expressed his hope that the consultations and communications among the concerned countries inside the Security Council and with the UN's secretary general to reach an agreement on a clear mechanism for implementation according to containment of the Security Council's resolution concerning Iraq.

The resolution specifies the remaining commitments of Iraq and what is required from the Security Council to reassure Iraq and to encourage it to cooperate with UN to get out of its crisis as well as to end the sanctions on it.
