Egypt's Industry achieves considerable growth in 1999

The Egyptian Industry now witnesses a tangible leap during 1999.
The Ministry of Industry specified 2,363 projects during 1999 with capital investment of LE 8.681 billion. These projects' value of the annual production reached LE 16.641 billion providing 90,498 job opportunities with LE 534 million annual salaries.
Mega Industrial Projects:
- 509 projects for chemical industries at a cost of LE 1316 million with an annual production LE 2072 million providing 23,402 job opportunities with LE 33 million annual salaries.
-600 projects of food and beverages industries at a cost of LE 1557 million with an annual production LE 3586 providing 11,573 job opportunities with LE 61 million.
-378 projects for weaving and spinning, garments and leather products at an estimated investment cost of about LE 1200 million with a capacity of LE 2072 million providing 23,402 job opportunities.
-95 projects for paper industries and Press print houses, operational since 1998, at a cost of LE 350 million with a capacity of total annual production estimated by LE 481 million providing 2314 job opportunities with LE 11 million annual salaries.
-Mining and quarries projects at an estimated investment cost of about LE 25 million with a capacity of LE 28 million providing 145 job opportunities with LE 2 million annual salaries.
-An integrated industrial complex for producing oils and fodder, at cost of LE 200 million.
The Ministry of Industry has drawn up 3-phase strategy of industrial development for Toshka as follows:
Construction industries.
Agricultural operation and processing of existing products stage. Industries to cater for the needs of existing communities.
Work has already started in Toshka by setting up a number of building materials factories due to start production within 18 months.
These projects have been the outcome of Egypt's current atmosphere of security and stability guarded by the rule of law and good governance.
