Turkish official to visit Syria

Well-informed sources told the London-based al-Hayat daily that the director general of the Turkish Foreign Ministry will visit Damascus within the coming weeks to hold talks with Syrian officials.
The sources added that the talks will pave the way for a meeting between Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and his Turkish counterpart, Ismail Cem.
The paper indicated that contacts are currently being made between Damascus and Ankara in order to draw-up a joint perspective for a statement of principles that organizes relations between the two sides.
