Meetings of Arab interior ministers in Algeria began today
Regional, Politics, 1/29/2000

Ahmed Mohammed El-Salem, secretary general of the Arab interior ministers' council, asserted that the agenda of the interior ministers council's session which begins today tackles 17 articles, topped by developing the Arab strategy for security cooperation that was signed in 1983 to cope with needs of the coming stage.

El-Salem said it includes goals, programs and mechanisms to implement it and is based on a joint Arab plan not only to combat crime, drugs and terrorism but also to study the reasons that lead to these crimes to determine procedures to prevent it.

He also stated that "convening the 17th session of the Arab interior ministers in Algeria proves the Arab solidarity with Algeria which passed its crisis and that Algeria is a stable, secure country."
