Sudanese President in Muscat today

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael has asserted that peace and national reconciliation are the top priority of the new Sudanese government in the coming phase, on the ground of the Egyptian- Libyan initiative.

In an exclusive statement with the Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm issued on Thursday, the Sudanese President said that his government is preparing and coordinating to have the next talks as an important step to reach peace in light of improving relations with the neighboring states together with the positive signals with the US.

He explained that the Sudanese government is having contacts with Egypt and Libya and with the leaderships of the Sudanese opposition abroad in order to set a date and a venue for the national dialogue meeting

Meantime, the Sudanese minister for the Cabinet affairs Abdullah Hassan Ahmad stressed during his meeting on Thursday with the leaderships of the general secretariat of the cabinet that the government gives top priorities to the issues of achieving national reconciliation and peace.

The Sudanese minister of Justice said on Thursday that the committee in charge of amending the constitution will meet by the beginning of next month ( February) to agree on items need amendments.

He added that the committee in charge of amending the law of the political parties and organizations will meet within the few coming days with non-registered political parties and organizations.

He explained that the aim behind revitalizing these two committees is to achieve national reconciliation and that the Sudanese government is serious to eliminating obstacles towards maintaining political pluralism.

Meanwhile, it was announced in Muscat on Thursday that the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will hold an official visit to Oman which will last for three days and will start as from tomorrow ( Saturday).

The Gulf News Agency quoted the Sultan's royal court ads saying that the visit falls in the course of consultation between the two countries ' leaderships in various issues of concern to the countries on the regional and international levels.
