Regional-Honduras, Politics, 1/28/2000

Honduras had denied the existence of any project to transfer the headquarters of its embassy in Israel into the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Honduras embassy in Cairo said in a statement issued on Wednesday that a project as such is in contradiction with the desire of Honduras to maintain good relations with the Arab states. He said that his country will honor UN resolutions as far as a final solution has not been reached yet on the situation of the city of Jerusalem.

Just two days earlier, the Israeli foreign ministry claimed that Honduras' foreign minister Roberto Floris, currently visiting Israel informed the Israeli authorities that his country is intending to transfer the headquarters of its embassy from Tel Aviv into Jerusalem according to developments of the ME peace process, SANA reported.
