Business in northern Morocco probed in conference in Canada
Morocco-Canada, Economics, 1/28/2000
Business opportunities in Morocco's northern region were probed in a conference held on Thursday in the Canadian city of Hull, near Ottawa, by Moroccan and Canadian officials and entrepreneurs.
The event, a follow-up of a similar conference on Tuesday in Montreal, is held in preparation of a forum of Moroccan-Canadian partnership slated next April in Tangiers.
Morocco's ambassador told the panel the Moroccan northern region has the potential to become a context for mutually-profitable partnership projects and a platform for Canada to export its expertise to the rest of the Arab world, Africa, and Europe.
An official from the Canadian federal industry ministry said according to his country's criteria, Morocco is a solid emerging country and boasts interesting prospects for investors. He cited the environment sector, which is expected to attract more than five billion US dollars by 2011, and which will be the focus of a seminar to be sponsored by a Canadian trade mission expected in Morocco next February.
