Morocco's oil bill reached $ 790 million in 1999

Oil purchases cost Morocco between January and November 1999 a total of $790 million (7.9 billion DH), against $510 million the year before, says the exchange office.
Oil imports increased in volume by 19.9% (from 5.5 million tons to 6.6 million) and by 54.9% in value.
Energy products accounted for 12% of total imports compared to 9% up in 1998. Oil, the main imported energy product, contributed 41.6% to the rise in Morocco's global imports which reached $9.6 billion against $8.92 billion the year before.
