Arab organization for human rights welcomes Djibouti's initiative on Somalia
Regional-Somalia, Politics, 1/28/2000

The Arab Human Rights Organization has welcomed the new peace initiative presented by Djibouti to solve the Somali crisis.

In its periodical news issued in Cairo today, the organization said this initiative is characterized by a new key for solving the crisis that depends on limiting the armed militias in return for giving a bigger role to organizations and corporations of the civil community.

The initiative released by Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh in September 1999 has received wide support from regional and international organizations as well as the concerned countries.

The Arab organization for human rights expressed its hope for the initiative's success in putting a final end to the civil war in Somalia and stopping the repeated and severe violations of human rights and basic liberties there.
