Egyptian -Djiboutian cooperation prompted in several areas

Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guellah wound up his two-day visit to Egypt yesterday during which he had important talks with President Hosni Mubarak.
Egypt and Djibouti stressed the necessity of making just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East on the basis of the United Nations Resolutions number 242, 338, and 425,Madrid Resolutions, and the land-for-peace principle.
Mubarak and Ismail, in a joint statement, supported all ongoing endeavors on the Syrian and Palestinian peace tracks and called for Israel's withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories in the West Bank, Al- Quds Al- Sherif ( Jerusalem), Gaza strip, the Golan Heights, and South Lebanon.
The two leaders backed as well holding a pan-Arab summit to restore Arab solidarity, build trust, close Arab rank, and deepen cooperation in all domains.
The statement said Mubarak-Guellah talks were held in a cordial and brotherly atmosphere.
The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest.
On the bilateral arena, they hailed Cairo-Djibouti distinguished bilateral relations and voiced their determination to further them, including economic relations and trade exchange.
The two sides said priority will be given to study setting up a regular airline between the two states.
Guellah conferred with a group of Egyptian businessmen to probe boosting trade, economic cooperation, and the opportunities of joint investment.
Both Presidents welcomed signing a three-way Egyptian and Djibouti-FAO agreement for food security, a model for south cooperation, the statement said.
The Egyptian side showed readiness to provide the needs of Djibouti from palms on batches, the first to begin in April, and places for Djiboutian trainees at the Egyptian International Agriculture Center.
Egypt offered its services to back the education development process in Djibouti, and promised to increase scholarships given to Djiboutian students in the Egyptian universities and Al- Azhar El- Sharif, one of the oldest Islamic universities worldwide, the statement said.
Egypt said it will complete measures to standardize the high school diploma with the Egyptian Thanawiya Amma and ease measures for students from Djibouti to live in Egyptian university hostels.
On African issues, Egypt supported the Djibouti peace plan on Somalia in a bid to preserve the territorial integrity and security of Somalia, the statement said.
The two states said they will cooperate and coordinate their efforts to restore peace and stability in Somalia.
Djibouti voiced appreciation of Egypt's reconciliatory efforts in Sudan, repeating its support to the Egyptian-Libyan initiative that complements IGAD's plan, the statement said.
Taking up Eritrea-Somalia crisis, the two leaders said the two parties have to comply with the content of the Organization of African Unity initiative to find a peace solution to the standing border struggle, the statement said.
