120 trucks and produce cargo directly shipped to Marseille
Morocco-France, Economics, 1/27/2000
The first direct shipment of Moroccan fruit and vegetables towards France was made Wednesday when 120 trucks carrying produce sailed from the port of Casablanca towards Europe via Marseille (French port city).
A ministerial meeting Tuesday decided to operate an emergency plan to guarantee shipment in due time to Europe, circumventing Spanish ports where trucks coming from Morocco are looted.
Three departures a week are scheduled from Agadir to Perpignan while Casablanca will be connected to Sete with daily shuttles. Three more weekly connections are programmed between Tangier and Sete.
80% of Moroccan tomatoes are sold in France.
