Morocco, Burkina Faso discuss economic cooperation
Morocco-Burkina Faso, Economics, 1/27/2000

Experts from Morocco and Burkina Faso will hold a meeting in Ouagadougo by the end of February to explore possibilities of giving a new impetus to bilateral economic cooperation.

The idea was discussed at talks here earlier this week between Minister of Industry, Trade and Handicraft Alami Tazi and Burkina Faso's ambassador to Rabat, Assimi Kouanda.

The two sides stressed the need to boost trade exchange, which did not exceed $7 million in 1998 (70 million DH) and the Burkina Faso diplomat proposed that the Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc plan a stopover in Ouagadougou.

Morocco's official request for the opening of negotiations on the conclusion of a preferential trade agreement with the West African Economic and Monetary Union was also brought up, Burkina Faso being a member of the union.
