British ambassador hails resumption of air trips between Tripoli and London
Libya-UK, Politics, 1/27/2000
Richard Dalton, the British ambassador in Tripoli, hailed the resumption of the Libyan Airlines company making organized trips between Tripoli and London, saying that this is considered a good sign for developing the relations between Libya and UK.
Dalton added in a statement that was broadcast by the Libyan mass media yesterday that, "We have a strong desire in the UK to welcome the Libyans in our country, and this is the start."
The British ambassador assumed his office in Tripoli on January 11.
The British Air company resumed its trips to Libya on June 3, 1999, when the air embargo and the sanctions imposed in 1992 on Libya due to the Lockerbie case were suspended.
