Mubarak inaugurates 32nd Book Fair

President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday morning inaugurated the 32nd Cairo International Book Fair.

The fair is held at Nasr City Exhibition Grounds with the participation of 85 Arab and foreign countries represented by 3,700 publishers.

Mubarak was briefed by the chairman of the General Book Authority Samir Sarhan on the cultural activities to be witnessed by this year's book fair. He then visited the fair's different pavilions.

Mubarak visited the pavilion of the Ministry of Culture as well as those of major publishing houses, as well as the pavilions of the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Yemen, the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Germany, USA and China.

Later, the president visited the pavilions of the Education Ministry, the Scientific Research Academy and the National Center for Communications where he received a collection of books on the National Conference on Technology and the Armed Forces where he was briefed on the new publications in the domain of data and information systems.

President Mubarak also visited the pavilions of Japan, France and Spain.

Later he made a tour of several pavilions of Egyptian ministries, bodies and institutions including the Police Academy.

At the end of the visit, President Mubarak moved to the Special Auditorium where he will hold an open dialogue with Egypt's prominent writers, intellectuals and thinkers.
