Cephalopod fishery closed Feb.1st-March 31st
Morocco, Economics, 1/26/2000
The cephalopod fleet will not be operating Feb. 1st through March 31st, announced the Moroccan fishing department.
A department release said the stoppage will help assess resources and set up appropriate protection measures.
The move came as a result of joint work by the fishery department, the national institute of fish research INRH, the federation of maritime chambers, professional associations and other operators in the cephalopod sub-sector. These sides are also busy setting up a commission to devise new regulation systems to monitor stocks and prices on the Japanese market.
