West Virginia talks achieved progress, Albright says
Syria-Israel-USA, Politics, 1/26/2000
US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright stressed on Monday that Washington still wants to use all its weight in order to conclude a peace agreement between Syria and Israel.
AFP quoted Albright as saying in a press statement she made on the sidelines of a meeting for the UN Security Council in New York, "I believe that we did make progress in Shepherdstown," where a series of talks was held in early January.
The US secretary of state expressed her satisfaction over the formation of four working groups on the most difficult issues: border demarcation, peaceful relations, security arrangements and water.
