Sarid backs negotiations with Syria
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/26/2000
Israeli Minister of Education Yossi Sarid said he backs the idea of reviving the third phase of negotiations with the Syrian side, saying that Israel is serious in its efforts to achieve peace with the Syrians but not "at any price."
In an interview he made with Israeli Radio on Tuesday, Sarid added that when the Syrians agree to the Israeli conditions pertaining to security aspects, normalization of relations and water, then Israel will withdraw from the Golan Heights for a genuine peace with Syria.
Sarid indicated that Israel has done all it has to do for resuming peace negotiations with the Syrians.
