Acts of violence continue in Somalia
Somalia, Politics, 1/26/2000

Six persons were killed and other two wounded when armed men attacked a truck in central Somalia.

AFP quoted an eyewitness as saying that a group of armed men opened fire on a truck at the crossroad in Gelensour, and as a result killed three passengers and confiscated their properties. Relatives of the victims retaliated against the attackers, killing three and wounding two.

For ten years, rival groups have been competing to control the Somali capital in the absence of a central government since the launching of the civil war after President Muhammad Zeyad Berri was toppled in 1991.
