Iraq and Jordan agreed on renewing the petroleum agreement
Jordan-Iraq, Politics, 1/25/2000

Iraq and Jordan agreed to renew the annual petroleum agreement between them, according to which Jordan gets its petroleum needs from Iraq for one year.

They have also agreed to increase the volume of the commercial protocol between them for the current year to $300 million in comparison to $200 million in 1999.

The Jordanian sources said the Jordanian delegation currently visiting Iraq agreed with Iraqi officials to renew the agreement and increase the commercial protocol's volume. They said the two sides agreed on leaving the matter in the hands of the specialized committees from the two sides to make the proper machism for implementing items of the agreements.

The two agreements said Iraq will provide Jordan with nearly 4.8 million tons of raw petroleum and its derivatives this year, the same quantity Jordan obtained last year, not 5 million tons as Amman was previously demanding.
