$116 million for relatives of victims in EgyptAir crash

The Egyptian newspaper El-Gomhoria said that Mohammed Fahim Rayan, head of board of directors of the EgyptAir company said that the families of victims of the October 31, 1999 crash of EgyptAir Flight 990 off the coast of the US state of Massachusetts will get insurance that varies between 300 and 400 million LE ($87.2 million - $116.3 million).
The newspaper quoted Rayan as saying that families of the 217 victims could get the insurance money immediately without waiting for the results of the investigation into the accident, adding that 20 families already received the money from governmental company Misr for Insurance and that a parent of one victim received 476,000 pounds from the company.
The newspaper also said that Rayan newly denied that the accident may resulted from the copilot's suicide.
