IIF optimistic as to investment prospects in Morocco
Morocco, Economics, 1/25/2000
"The Institute of International Finance" (IIF) voiced optimism as to the inflow of foreign investment into Morocco and stressed major changes operated under King Mohammed VI.
IIF officials told MAP the slump in the Casablanca stock exchange in 1999 does not reflect the trend in foreign capital because it is ruled by internal factors, foreign participation being low or directly managed by banks or industrial holdings.
In terms of foreign direct investment, the year 1999 was exceptionally good thanks to revenues of the sale of the second GSM license and tourism, they said adding privatization programs and continued financing by the World Bank clearly show the inflow of fresh money will be on the increase in the kingdom.
