A cooperation agreement between Damascus, UK chambers of commerce
Syria-UK, Economics, 1/25/2000

The chairman of the federation of Syrian chambers of commerce, Ratib al-Shallah, who is also the chairman of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, on Monday signed with Peter Masyous an agreement on cooperation, exchange of information, and mutual announcements of chances for cooperation and deepening trade exchange between the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and the chambers of commerce in Birmingham and Dadly, UK.

The two sides discussed the possibility of setting up a factory for recycling metallic waste, as well as a British offer to buy all empty metal tins, especially those of Cola.

Earlier al-Shalah talked to the four-company British delegation about the appropriate atmospheres for investment in Syria.

The British delegation said progress is realized in the area of trade and economic cooperation between the two sides, especially as this delegation is the first economic one to visit Syria this century, the Syrian Tishreen daily said on Tuesday.
