Syria, Lebanon renew cooperation agreement

Syrian and Lebanon signed in Beirut on Monday an agreement that provides for renewing cooperation in the field of electric power between the two states.
It was signed by Syrian Minister of Electricity Munib Saed al-Daher and Lebanese Minister of Water and Electric Resources Suleiman al-Trabulsi, and the signing ceremony was attended by the secretary general of the Syrian - Lebanese higher council, Nasri al-Khouri.
The Lebanese minister appreciated the efforts made by Syria to provide Lebanon with electric power supplies which reached 130 MW in 1999.
He said that Lebanon is one of the members of the five-state electric grid project linking Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Iraq.
