Barak and the Syrian conditions to withdraw from the Golan
Syria, Politics, 1/25/2000
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak said that nobody asked him that Israel should, in writing, withdraw until June 1967 border line as a precondition to resuming negotiations with Syria.
Barak asserted that Israel does not want to give any pledge concerning the border lines before the negotiations, adding that this issue will be debated during the negotiation process which will also cover matters relating to the nature of peace, security arrangements and the waters.
The Israeli radio indicated that the said statements made by Barak came in the framework of the political reports he submitted on Sunday during the meeting of the Israeli cabinet on the negotiation process on the Syrian and Palestinian tracks.
