Gunmen killed in Algeria

The Algerian armed forces have killed nine gunmen from the armed groups during vast mopping-up operation carried out in the al-Ramka area, where another five gunmen were arrested.

The Algerian daily al-Khabar said on Monday that members of the "Hassan Hattab group," which refuses to drop their weapons suffer from great isolation and shortage of supplies after siege around those members was intensified.

He paper added that an armed group had burned a passenger coach at a false barrier in Ein al-Zaweyah town. No human casualties were reported as a result.

Meantime, the Algerian daily al-Youm said that 50 members of the Islamic Salvation Army surrendered in the Gleizan district under the civil concord law so as to be pardoned.
