Hamas criticizes the Muslim Brothers in Jordan
Jordan, Politics, 1/24/2000

The official spokesman for the Hamas resistance movement, Ibrahim Ghoushe, has strongly criticized the Muslim Brothers group in Jordan and accused it of taking a "wrong" stand during the crisis that erupted last year between the Jordanian government and the Hamas movement.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Jordanian independent daily al-Arab al-Youm, Ghoushe added that, "Taking the role of the mediator by the Muslim Brothers in Jordan and its general role in this crisis was wrong, as it was presumed that the position of the group should be in line with the position taken by the Hamas movement on the grounds that the Islamic project to liberate Palestine is the project of Hamas and the Muslim Brothers altogether."

He attributed this "change" in the position of the Muslim Brothers to "convictions of the current executive bureau members," as well as "pressures imposed on the bureau by the Jordanian security system."
