One Palestinian killed in Ein al-Helweh camp
Palestine-Lebanon, Local, 1/24/2000

Two armed, veiled men on Saturday evening killed the Palestinian Hassan Zakeyah, known as "al-Marid," near al-Nour mosque in Ein al-Helweh camp as he was returning home.

Palestinian sources reported that the two armed-men were waiting for al-Marid and that one of them fired his pistol at him.

The Palestinian sources considered the incident as "falling in the context of the intensified security atmospheres prevailing inside the camp."

The sources continued that al-Marid was a former member in "Ansar Allah" group led by Jamal Suleiman, and he was killed for "reasons pertaining to his behavior, besides he was repeatedly arrested by the Lebanese authorities.

This is the second similar killing in the camp within one month following the killing of one person who was said not to be of a good reputation at the hands of veiled persons.
